UND Celebrations

The UND Celebrations program gives Notre Dame clubs the opportunity to have a University representative speak at a club event.

History

In 1924, John H. Neeson, class of 1903 and then President of the Alumni Association, began Universal Notre Dame Celebrations as a universal meeting of all clubs on the same night. Neeson's first "Universal Notre Dame Night," in the form of a nationwide radio broadcast, highlighted the non-athletic achievements of the University's alumni and friends and, moreover, for the broader American public. The event served to nurture the University's reputation as a premier learning institution, and in fact promoted it.

Today, these events are referred to as Universal Notre Dame Celebrations, and are held to provide alumni with a "State of the University" from speakers representing all areas of the University. UND Celebrations are a key way for the University to thank alumni for their commitment to Notre Dame and provide an important mechanism to receive feedback from alumni across the world.

How to Schedule a UND Celebration

1. Fill out Speaker Request Survey found at:
http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=sd5xozoVNxsXuPy7IKQ5_2fQ_3d_3d
2. After the Alumni Association notifies club of speaker, contact speaker directly to set a date
3. Submit the Event Confirmation Form to the Alumni Association.  Clubs must submit this confirmation at least 2 months before their event in order to guarantee that the Alumni Association will pay for travel.
4. After event, submit attendee evaluations to the Alumni Association

The Alumni Association will pay for all aspects of the UND Celebration Speaker's travel except for 1 night of the Speaker's lodging, and for the meal at which the University guest speaks. In order to ensure that the Alumni Association will pay for the Speaker's travel, however, the club must fill out the Event Confirmation form at least 2 months prior to the Club's event.  Click here to view the UND Celebration Expense Policy for Clubs.
