Nomination Information

The Alumni Association and the Alumni Board of Directors are always seeking nominations for alumni awards. Nominations must be received by:
- March 1 for the Corby, Foster, and Rosenthal Awards
- August 1 for the Cavanaugh, Dooley, Harvey, Lauck, Griffin, O'Hara and Sexton Awards
- September 1 for the Putz Award
- December 1 for the Armstrong, Family Life Exemplar, Reynolds, Sorin and Young Alumni Awards
Nominations must also include at least one of the following requirements: Nominee’s resume, written personal testimony from the nominator(field provided at bottom of form), and/or newspaper or magazine articles (8.5" x 11" photocopies only please). Submissions may be sent by:

Awards: JAMES E. ARMSTRONG AWARD -- bestowed on a graduate of the University who has performed outstanding services for the University and is an employee of the University; presented at the annual Alumni Senate meeting in the spring.
REV. JOHN J. CAVANAUGH, C.S.C. AWARD -- conferred on an alumnus/alumna (living or deceased) who is or has performed outstanding service in the field of government, patriotism, public service, local, state and national politics, etc.; presented at the annual fall Alumni Board meeting.
REV. WILLIAM CORBY, C.S.C. AWARD -- conferred on an alumnus/alumna (living or deceased) who has distinguished himself or herself in military service; presented at halftime of a home football game with a service academy.
DR. THOMAS A. DOOLEY AWARD -- conferred on an alumnus/alumna (living or deceased) who has exhibited outstanding service to humankind; presented at the annual winter Alumni Board meeting.
NOTRE DAME FAMILY LIFE EXEMPLAR AWARD -- is presented annually to an individual, a couple or a family. It will not be awarded to a service provider organization. The recipients should be exemplars in their own lives and what they do to improve the quality of family life.
HARVEY G. FOSTER AWARD -- conferred on an alumnus/alumna (living or deceased), some of whom are athletes or in athletic endeavors, who have distinguished themselves through civic or University activities; presented at the annual fall Alumni Board meeting.
REV. ROBERT F. GRIFFIN, C.S.C. AWARD -- conferred on an alumnus/alumna who has exhibited outstanding accomplishments or achievements in writing; presented at the annual winter Alumni Board meeting.
REV. ARTHUR S. HARVEY, C.S.C. AWARD – conferred on an alumnus/alumna (living or deceased) for outstanding accomplishments or achievements in the field of performing arts; presented at the annual winter Alumni Board meeting.
REV. ANTHONY J. LAUCK, C.S.C. AWARD – conferred on an alumnus/alumna (living or deceased) for expertise, beauty and performance in the field of visual and fine arts; presented at the annual winter Alumni Board meeting.
JOHN CARDINAL O'HARA AWARD -- conferred on an alumnus/alumna who is a former employee of Notre Dame and has rendered distinguished service to the University; presented at Reunion weekend in June.
REV. LOUIS J. PUTZ, C.S.C. AWARD – bestowed upon an individual or alumni club that exhibits continued excellence in senior service initiatives. The individual can be a Notre Dame senior alumnus (age 55+), or a non-alumnus who is actively engaged in the support and implementation of senior service with the Association network; presented at the annual Alumni Senate meeting in the spring.
WILLIAM D. REYNOLDS AWARD -- conferred on an alumnus/alumna (living or deceased) doing exceptional work with youth for the betterment of the quality of life; presented at halftime of the Blue/Gold game in the spring.
RICHARD A. ROSENTHAL AWARD -- conferred on a former board member for exemplar activity and support of the Alumni Association; awarded annually.
WILLIAM P. SEXTON AWARD – conferred on a non-alumnus who has performed outstanding service to the University and whose life exemplifies the spirit of Notre Dame; awarded annually.
REV. EDWARD FREDERICK SORIN, C.S.C. AWARD -- conferred on an alumnus/alumna (living or deceased), not a current employee of Notre Dame, who has rendered distinguished service to the University; presented at Reunion weekend in June.
THE YOUNG ALUMNI AWARD -- presented annually to an outstanding graduate of the last ten years who has shown leadership and inspiration to young alumni through club participation in events of a social, spiritual, community service and/or continuing education nature; presented at the annual Alumni Senate meeting in the spring.
