Now you can show your ND pride on your vehicle - with the new Notre Dame license plate in Illinois. The University recently joined the Illinois Collegiate License Plate program.
Eligibility
You must be an Illinois resident to obtain the Notre Dame plate. However, you don't need to be an alumnus or alumna of Notre Dame.
Plate Fees
There will be a $40 collegiate plate fee for the ND plate, in addition to the normal plate registration fee. For each ND plate issued, $25 will be designated for scholarships for Illinois students attending Notre Dame.
Vanity and Personalized Plates
The ND plate will have five digits. Vanity and personalized plates will be available for an additional cost. Vanity plates may contain up to three numbers only or one to five letters only. Personalized plates may contain both letters and numbers, up to a maximum of five.
Request a Notre Dame Plate
Submit this fact sheet by fax or mail to the Illinois Secretary of State office in Springfield. The contact information is on the sheet. After the Secretary of State receives your application from the fact sheet you will receive a letter that will summarizes the plate costs; you then have 45 days to pay the required fees, which are outlined on the fact sheet. If the fees aren’t paid to the state within 45 days, that plate number will be released, and available to anyone.
