Get the Vote Out

To those alumni who have already cast their votes for the 2008 ND Alumni Board election, thank you. Now we need your help encouraging your fellow alumni to participate.

What can you do to help?
Remind your classmates that the Alumni Board of Directors plays an important role in communicating alumni views and opinions to the University administration and setting policies for the Alumni Association. Additionally, the Alumni Board president and president-elect serve on the Notre Dame Board of Trustees.

How to vote
The Alumni Association has made it easy to vote, offering three options:

  • electronically (log on to alumni.nd.edu/election)
  • by phone (call 800-668-0764)
  • by mail (simply send in the postage-paid paper ballot from the Winter 2007-08 issue of Notre Dame Magazine)

Voting for the 2008 election runs through March 12, 2008 at midnight ET.

What if you don’t know any of the candidates?
Log on to alumni.nd.edu/election and read the biographies and election statements of the candidates. You will get a good understanding of each candidate’s background and experience with Notre Dame.

How did the candidates get nominated?
Candidates are nominated either by a fellow alumnus/a or by themselves. The only requirement is that the candidate be an ND alumnus/a. And most candidates are active in their local ND clubs or serve as class officers.

Why are the candidates broken up into regions?
Regions ensure the committee members will reflect the geographic diversity of the alumni body.

What if you don’t live in any of the regions up for election?
You are still encouraged to vote for every region -- regardless of where you live. The Alumni Board members are elected at large by the entire alumni body. The same goes for Young Alumni and Senior Alumni.
