From exploring the outskirts of Europe where Ireland’s rugged beauty surrounds both charming villages and bustling cities, to reaching the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro while overlooking the breathtaking African horizon from 19,340 feet in the sky, Notre Dame Alumni Travel is helping travelers realize their dreams with a series of tours designed especially for alumni, family and friends.
Ireland in a Dublin Castle–July 14-22, 2008
Notre Dame Alumni Association Executive Director Chuck Lennon personally invites you to join him and his wife, Joan, for the upcoming tour “Ireland in a Dublin Castle.” A land of breathtaking scenery, friendly people and colorful history, Ireland boasts treasures of the present and past; including the passage tombs at Knowth, home to a large portion of Europe’s Neolithic art.
The tour also will take you to Northern Ireland, where you’ll visit the city of Belfast and hear a lecture on the current political and economic situation on the northern side of the island. Each evening you will rest and rejuvenate at the luxurious Clontarf Castle Hotel, originally built in 1172.

Kilimanjaro Climb with Safari Extension–September 6-13, 2008
Join Northwest Voyageurs owner Andrew Nachman ’97 and his team of experienced and knowledgeable mountain guides and porters as you ascend the remote Rongai route on the northern side of Mount Kilimanjaro.
Few mountains invoke as much awe and wonder as Africa’s highest peak, a free-standing volcano that looms over the vast savannahs of the Serengeti at an astounding 19,340 feet. While no technical climbing or mountaineering experience is required, participants should be in good physical condition and be able to hike long distances for multiple days in a row.
An optional post-climb wildlife safari includes visits to Serengeti, Ngorongoro and the Olduvai Gorge, and walking trips to observe lions, elephants, giraffe, and other African species.

Eastern Canada and New England Cruise – October 7-18, 2008
This 11–day itinerary combines the beauty of autumn with fascinating ports of call, a marvelous ship, and a great price. Begin your voyage in Montreal and call on charming Quebec City before setting out for the quaint town of Ville Saguenay. Then it is on to Charlottetown, Sydney, Halifax, Saint John, Portland and historic Boston before sailing to New London, where you can immerse yourself in the beauty of this seafaring town.
Your journey will conclude in New York City, where the post-cruise hotel extension is recommended. Although the warmth and brilliance of fall foliage cannot be guaranteed, generally the weather will be invigorating.
Our ship, the Royal Princess, is a former Renaissance vessel with ample amenities, including numerous dining venues, a full-service fitness center, a luxurious spa, casino, Internet café, and nightly entertainment. There is an optional post-cruise land-tour program available, as well, for those wishing to explore eastern Canada in more depth.
