The 2008 Notre Dame Forum on the topic of sustainable energy will take place Sept. 24 in the Joyce Center arena. Panelists will include Jeff Immelt, chairman and CEO of General Electric and Ernest Moniz, the Cecil and Ida Green Distinguished Professor of Physics, the director of the Laboratory for Energy and Environment, and the director of the Energy Initiative at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Notre Dame alumna Anne Thompson ’79, chief environmental affairs correspondent for NBC News, will serve as moderator.
The issues addressed at the ND Forum will extend across multiple disciplines and engage the entire University community. Some will center on the intersection of energy utilization and Catholic social teaching, and all will build on current institutional initiatives that collectively support the development of a comprehensive course of sustainability across all of the University's endeavors.
For more information on sustainable energy and activities surrounding the Forum, visit the Notre Dame Forum website.
Because the ND Forum has become a great way to inaugurate each new academic year with intellectual discussions on significant issues, the Alumni Association has made available a new toolkit to help you connect the ND Forum to your local ND club.
The kit includes a video of the 2007 ND Forum, which focused on immigration. ND clubs can show the video to a small group of club members, followed by a discussion on immigration. The toolkit also contains facilitator guidelines to help you lead the discussion.
To order the ND Forum Toolkit, contact Karen L. Conway, J.D. ’89, Alumni Association director, alumni academic programs at 574-631-5940 or by e-mail at kconway@nd.edu.
