ND Ranks in Top 25 for Latinos

Hispanic Magazine has ranked Notre Dame No. 13 on its annual “Top 25 Colleges for Latinos” list, praising the accomplishments of the University’s Hispanic students and its outreach programs for the Latino community. Notre Dame has been included in the magazine’s Top 25 every year since the list made its debut in 1999.

Schools are evaluated based on the percentage of Hispanics enrolled, the levels of achievement of these students, graduation rates, student-to-faculty ratios, the percentage of faculty members who are Latino, availability of financial aid, selectivity, and the cultural and support programs offered for Hispanic students, among other criteria.

The magazine commended Notre Dame’s Latino Community Leadership Seminar—part of the University’s Institute for Latino Studies—which brings to campus each year 40 outstanding Latino high school students from around the country to participate in a leadership seminar. The seminar explores the role of Latinos in American society and how they can become strong leaders for their communities through service and an understanding of the values of Latino culture and of the Catholic social tradition.

Latinos currently constitute 9 percent of total undergraduate enrollment at Notre Dame.
