Machu Picchu…no archaeological site in the Americas holds as much mystery as the most famous of Inca ruins. Our trek to this legendary fortress follows the road less traveled, a different “Inca trail” winding deep into the heart of the Peruvian Andes. Glaciated peaks, high mountain passes, and deep river gorges punctuate our 4-day trip along the Salkantay Trail to Machu Picchu. We’ll start in Cusco with several days touring this charming city and its stunning architecture and ruins, as well as the Sacred Valley of the Incas. We then begin our 4-day, mule-supported trek, camping each night in luxury along the trail. We’ll cross Salkantay pass at 14,760 ft., travel through lush cloud forests teeming with orchids, and soak in a natural hot springs before arriving at our destination…Machu Picchu. A pre-trip whitewater rafting adventure on the Apurimac River is also available.
