Canadian Rockies by Rail

June 13–20, 2009

It’s hard to steal the spotlight from the marvel of Banff National Park or the vibrant city of Vancouver, but this 8-day/7-night trip between them pulls it off. You’ll rave about the 2-day, all-daylight, lap-of-luxury train passage through the breathtaking Canadian Rockies, with award-winning service. Take two days in Vancouver, with the ocean and mountains as your backdrop. Then glide on the train through the wilderness, eastward along Kicking Horse route, taking in glacial, mountain, and forest scenery on the way. Cross the Continental Divide and see where the last spike was driven into the Canadian Pacific railway before checking into the Banff Park Lodge. Next, spend three days in Banff National Park, where moose and elk wander through town and the crystal-clear lakes are never far away. Hike alone or with a group, or visit the town’s rich arts and culture scene, boutiques, and restaurants. No matter where you are, there’s no shortage of crisp mountain air.
