Fr. Thomas McNally, a 1949 graduate of Notre Dame, worked as a news reporter for six years after graduation before joining the Congregation of the Holy Cross. He was ordained in 1961. Since then, Fr. McNally has served the Church and Holy Cross in a wide range of ministries. At various times he has been editor and publisher of two youth magazines, worked in campus ministry and taught theology at Notre Dame, co-edited two popular  prayer books, and been pastor or associate pastor at churches in California, Indiana, and Chile. Presently retired, he is a volunteer chaplain at the Indiana State Prison in Michigan City, Ind., and at two juvenile institutions in South Bend.
