In the spirit of the Notre Dame Family, we've been inspired to offer our alumni clubs the opportunity to promote a heroic endeavor - breast cancer awareness. Because, every year more than 180,000 are diagnosed with the disease and approximately 40,000 women will lose their lives to it. But early detection and treatment can decrease these numbers!

Pink ribbons represent breast cancer. Other cancer ribbon colors include gold for all childhood cancers, blue for prostate cancer, and white for all other forms of cancer. |
Building awareness will increase the likelihood that women and men will practice the proper examination methods and increase the occurrences of early detection.
Putting this in terms "closer to home", of our more than 20,800 female graduates, 2,600 will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime.
It's our vision to reach men and women and to help them realize the harsh effects of breast cancer. In addition, we can teach them what they can do to protect themselves. We believe that by our clubs hosting events that promote breast cancer awareness, we will be able to reach those who lack information, are afraid of being diagnosed with the disease, lack health insurance or are not examining themselves for some reason.
The promotion packet available through this link outlines the planning, leading, organizing, and controlling aspects of developing a project or event that will promote breast cancer awareness. Specifically, we take you step-by-step through the process of hosting a successful awareness event in your community. We hope your club will organize an event in your community and join us in the fight against breast cancer, and the promotion of its awareness.
