Dr. Emil T. Hofman, chemistry professor emeritus, has created a video about Notre Dame's mission to treat lymphatic filariasis in Haiti. Dr. Hofman takes groups of medical professions to Haiti throughout the year to view patients suffering from the severely debilitating symptoms of lymphatic filariasis, hydroceles and elephantiasis.
The eight-minute video is intended primarily for physicians and health care professionals who might be interested in traveling with Dr. Hofman on a medical mission trip to Haiti.
The Notre Dame Haiti Program, led by Fr. Tom Streit, C.S.C., is a world leader in the fight against lymphatic filariasis.
