This unique program will introduce you to some of the many aspects of the extraordinarily dynamic ecosystem known as the Everglades. This vast, slow-moving river system is capable of supporting incredible biodiversity and is home to hundreds of species of both migratory and indigenous birds, fish, mammals, and reptiles. Highlights of the program include a swamp walk and research project in Fakahatchee Strand Preserve; a sunset cruise on Sanibel Island; guided field expeditions into both Big Cypress Preserve and Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary; kayaking among the mangroves at Rookery Bay; a walk along the famous Anhinga Trail; and a thrilling airboat ride deep into a little-traveled part of the Everglades.
