Lecturer: Rev. Michael Driscoll, C.S.C.
Father Michael Driscoll is a priest of the Diocese of Helena, Mont. Ordained in 1977, he has spent the majority of his years in priesthood teaching—first at Carroll College, the diocesan college in Helena from 1981–1994, and then at the University of Notre Dame from 1994 to the present. His specialization is in the area of sacramental theology and liturgy. He did his doctoral work in Paris, earning a PhD at the University of Paris IV (Sorbonne) (1986). He is an active member in the North American Academy of Liturgy, serving as president in 2002, and is a member of the Societas Liturgica, an international academy of liturgists. He has also served as an advisor to the Bishops’ Committee on the Liturgy, a standing committee of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. His writings are both academic and pastoral as he looks for intersection of liturgy and life. In 2005, he was named Notre Dame’s first director of the new Masters Program in Sacred Music (MSM) and the Interdisciplinary Minor in Liturgical Music Ministry. He is also overseeing the SummerSong program.
