The Hannah Storm Journalism Internship was created in 2006 as an opportunity for current Notre Dame undergraduate students to gain practical experience while working in the Alumni Association’s Communications and Marketing department. One student is selected as the Hannah Storm Journalism Intern each academic year. ND Alumna Hannah Storm ’83 established the internship program in 2006, which is funded by the proceeds from her book Notre Dame Inspirations and the Hannah Storm Foundation.

Storm co-anchors the live morning Sportscenter on ESPN. She also oversees The Hannah Storm Foundation, which provides help for children with disfiguring or debilitating birthmarks.

The Alumni Association works closely with Hannah to select a new intern for each academic year. The internship lasts for two full semesters--from September through May.

Each academic year, there is a broad call for applications and a formal selection process. The intern works closely with the Notre Dame Alumni Association senior editor, committing approximately 10 to 12 hour per week to the project. In return the intern earns a stipend of $2,000 per semester.

Hannah Storm Intern Responsibilities

• The intern writes articles for ND Today, the monthly electronic newsletter of the ND Alumni Association 
• Assists the senior editor with obtaining background information for articles
• Compiles graphics, photos and web links for ND Today
• Writes text for the printed publication The Echoes
• Updates text on the official Alumni Association website - alumni.nd.edu

 
Junior Josh Flynt is the 2009-2010 Hannah Storm Journalism intern. Flynt, who is from Malta, N.Y., is an English major who had been actively involved in journalism as a writer for Scholastic. He also writes for the University's Sports Information Department. Flynt works closely with the alumni editor and writes articles for various alumni communications.

Jessica Bruno '09 was the inaugural Hannah Storm Journalism Intern. She participated in the program, writing for the Alumni Association from January -- May 2007.

Marcela Berrios '08 was selected as the 2007 – 08 intern.  She worked in the Alumni Association from Oct. 2007 – May 2008. 

 

Kerry Hutton '09 was selected as the 2008-09 intern. She worked in the Alumni Association, from Aug. 2008 -- May 2009.
